OSFM Annual Scholarship Program

The Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market Society (OSFMS) is excited to announce its annual Scholarship Program!

Up to five scholarships, each valued at $1,000, will be awarded to deserving recipients who embody the market’s core values and demonstrate a commitment to community enrichment.

Who Qualifies?

Alberta Residents enrolled in a post-secondary program in the 2024/25 school year.

R

New applicants must not have previously received an OSFMS scholarship.

Purpose

The OSFMS Scholarship supports
students committed to:

R

Community contribution in their future endeavors.

R

Promoting the OSFMS values, such as fostering small business growth, creativity, innovation, public health, and unique local products that are made, baked, grown, or sold.

Scholarship Categories

Five scholarships are available each year – one for each of the following categories:

  1. Indigenous applicants
  2. Arts students
  3. Individuals new to Canada within the last two years
  4. Aspiring entrepreneurs making progress toward starting a business
  5. Those who have overcome significant life challenges and aim to use their experiences to positively impact others

How to Apply

Proof of Enrolment

Documentation showing your enrolment in a recognized, Canadian, post-secondary institution.

Essay

Write an essay, maximum 750 words, answering one of the following questions:

  1. “How would you like to contribute to your community in your future plans?”
  2. “How do you promote one or more of OSFMS’s core values?”
    1. Growth, development, economic viability, and incubation of small business.
    2. Creativity and innovation.
    3. Public health and safety.
    4. Businesses that make, bake, grow, and sell their product, especially unique niche items. 

Alternative submission formats (e.g., video or presentation) may also be accepted, subject to the committee’s discretion. 

Eligibility

Indicate your Alberta residence and eligibility for specific scholarship categories and provide documentation where applicable (Indigenous, arts student, new to Canada, entrepreneur, overcoming challenges).
