A little bite of history to go with your food...

Long before it was home to farmers, bakers, and makers, this building was part of Edmonton’s transit history.
Built in 1908, the building began as a streetcar barn, helping maintain the streetcars that connected Edmonton’s growing communities. In 1951, it was transformed into a trolley bus garage during Edmonton’s electric transit era.
In 1983, the Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market began operating outside the building. The building continued serving Edmonton’s transit system until 1986, when it closed as a transit facility as diesel buses took over.
From streetcars, to trolley buses, to farm-fresh foods, this building has been keeping Edmonton moving for more than a century.
