Why Is There No More Free 2-Hour Parking?

For years, the Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market leased the parking lot across the street from the City of Edmonton, allowing us to offer free 2-hour parking to our customers. However, as of April 6, 2025, the City has chosen not to renew our lease and will be taking over the management of the lot.

The City has integrated the lot into the EPark system as part of a broader public realm strategy for Old Strathcona to generate revenue for future public space improvements. While we advocated for free Saturday parking for market customers, the City decided to move forward with their paid parking model.

The City of Edmonton has provided us with a Q&A document with insights on this change. If you have questions or concerns regarding the parking lot, you must contact the City by calling 311 or emailing epark@edmonton.ca.

Is There A Bike Path To The Market? And Bike Rack When I Get There?

Yes, a bike path runs down 83 Ave from the University to Mill Creek Ravine and beyond.

There are multiple bike racks around the building.

Free Bike Valet Service

We’ve partnered with Bike Edmonton & the Old Strathcona Business Association to provide a free Bike Valet service during market hours. From May long weekend to October, check your bikes, bike trailers, e-bikes, and e-scooters with Bike Edmonton volunteers when you arrive. Be sure to bring your lock!

Is The Market Accessible To Wheelchairs And Strollers?

Yes! We are fully accessible, and each bathroom has an accessible stall.

Is There A Lost And Found?

Lost items should be handed in to our Info Booth near the washrooms.

Visitors who may have lost something can visit the Info Booth or call 780-439-1844 to check if their belongings have been found.

We only hold lost items for 30 days, then they are donated to a local community group.

We also offer a Community Booth for non-profit and community organizations (for display and informational purposes only).
